The mince pies are banished for another year. The Christmas tree has been taken down. The office fridge is bursting with boxes of salad, mine included.

But the atmosphere at Purple Towers isn’t suffering a post-holiday downer. With last year’s success fresh in our minds, we’re feeling quietly contented and excited about the direction our business will take in 2016. Before we get to that, let’s give you a quick snapshot of what Purple WiFi achieved in 2015:

  • $5ml investment and 40 new staff globally
  • Moved from 1.1ml users to 6.5ml users in one year
  • Moved from 6.9 ml sessions to 43ml sessions in one year
  • We connected 15K new venues
  • We attended 60 global events last year, covering Europe, Asia and the US
  • We signed 300 new partners
  • 40k new followers connected with us on our social networks

Up until now, we’ve not only been eradicating bad WiFi, but giving businesses a way to recoup the cost of providing connectivity through smart analytics. These analytics are now becoming key to monitoring and understanding the multitude of objects being connected to the internet every second with the Internet of Things.

Our CEO, Gavin Wheeldon, says: “We strongly believe WiFi will provide the base level of connectivity in most cases, providing valuable intelligence about any physical space.”

As Gavin says, our vision for 2016 is “intelligent spaces”, which means that there will be big changes on the way. We can’t say too much just yet, but there’s a new product launch and partner program arriving imminently. We’re particularly looking forward to welcoming our entire international team for a whole week of planning, training and social activities this month at Purple HQ.

We go into 2016 with a clear purpose for Purple and our world class team leading the way.
