Purple is proud to be an Approved Provider of ‘Friendly WiFi’, the world’s first accreditation scheme designed to verify whether a business’ public WiFi service meets a minimum level of filtering to block out access to pornographic and child abuse websites.
The ‘Friendly WiFi’ scheme aims to help parents, children and young people make informed choices about using public WiFi and protects them from viewing inappropriate material. Purple partners and content filtered venues can now apply to join the scheme and pay an annual licence fee to have their service verified to ensure that access to pornographic material is filtered and child abuse webpages known to the Internet Watch Foundation are blocked.
Once verified and approved, partners and venues can display the ‘Friendly WiFi’ symbol to make it clear that their WiFi is ‘Friendly’.

Purple is a member of the Future of Privacy Forum. This highlights our ongoing commitment to both adhering to the law and respecting customers’ privacy. We ensure that we remain up to date with best practices in data collection and how data is being used.
The Future of Privacy Forum is an organisation that advocates responsible data practices. The forum seeks to advance responsible data practices and includes an advisory board of leading figures from industry, academia, law and advocacy groups. Our membership enables us to be at the forefront of any privacy dialogue and access up to date information from thought leaders on issues concerning privacy.
The Future of Privacy Forum describe themselves as a source to provide technical clarity and context on issues. They also seek to advance meaningful self regulation, best practices, resulting in consumer friendly and business practical privacy measures.
Wireless Broadband Alliance
Purple are proud members of the Wireless Broadband Alliance. As WBA members, we strive to make the WiFi experience easier, more secure and increase its availability.
The Wireless Broadband Alliance aims to secure an outstanding WiFi user experience through global deployment of next generation WiFi.
We use our WBA membership for networking, building on existing and developing new relationships, keeping up with developments and accessing the latest information and research.
The WBA Next Generation Hotspot Initiative, for example, is promising new levels of access, security and robustness to WiFi operators and users.
We are already a part of this, leading the way by ensuring that our platform is HotSpot 2.0 enabled.
The TravelSpirit Foundation was established to accelerate the adoption of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) systems that integrate discovery, booking, and payment of multi-modal transport service offerings under an open marketplace. Rather than simply lobbying cities to adopt such systems on their own, we are building a global network of companies, cities, and communities connected through MaaS solutions that are based on shared open innovation practices, thereby enabling a truly global marketplace built on a cohesive open architecture, and leveraging open data.
We are looking well beyond travel options aggregators and local contactless payment systems. We want to build a global marketplace system, where all available mobility services can be found, booked, and utilized regardless of a user’s location and means. To be successful, this will require an architecture that can adapt to regional differences in data availability and regulatory environment. To that end, we’ve started documenting different services and practices from around the world to begin modelling the architecture.
