One of our key values here at Purple is all about innovation and determination. We are a technology business after all, and technology is always evolving. Not only do we continually look for new ways to improve our solution and the end-to-end customer experience, we also look to develop our people, and help them build the skills they need to keep us ahead of the game.
We are passionate about developing the next generation of coders, data analysts, marketers and more, and that is why we offer a number of great internships, apprenticeships, and work experience placements.
Last month, we had the pleasure of welcoming two students, both from local high schools to their work experience placements.
Amie and Oliver spent five working days with the business. Equipped with a detailed schedule, put together by our HR Assistant, Hannah Turnbull, Amie and Oliver had the chance to shadow and work alongside a number of our departments including Finance, Marketing, Customer Success, and Sales.
Tom Hackett, Head of Customer Success at Purple, said: “Amie took very well to the tasks she was handed. She also seemed to have an intellectual knowledge of the technology which was a real plus.”
Andrew Butterworth, Financial Controller at Purple, said: “It was great to meet and work with Oliver on his five-day placement. He was very interested in the finance team and was keen to understand what roles our department played within the business. Oliver also spent time with the team to understand everyone’s career paths to their current role.”
Following their placements, we caught up with Amie and Oliver. When asked which departments they enjoyed most, Amie, said: “I really enjoyed working with the Customer Success team which surprised me, I never really thought of myself as someone who would be interested in Customer Success”. Oliver said: “The best team I got to work with was Finance – I thoroughly enjoyed it.” He later went on to say, “I am excited for when I leave school. Having the opportunity to experience what working is like has been great and has helped me think about what I want to do in the future.”
We understand that ‘real-world experience’ in a practical learning environment is invaluable, and the intrinsic benefits for both company and student are very much championed here at Purple.
