Spectators that attended the Los Pumas vs All Blacks game on Saturday were able to enjoy high-speed connectivity and share memories of the game thanks to Efan, Cisco Meraki and Purple’s WiFi and analytics solution.
Estadio Velez Sarsfield, Buenos Aires, played host to the 2017 Rugby Championship game on Saturday 30th September, with free WiFi available across the majority of the site. A significant proportion of the 30,000 attendees logged on during the game and a wealth of visitor demographic data was captured by Purple, which will help to improve future event marketing and planning.
Purple was deployed using Cisco Meraki hardware by Efan, specialists in digital entertainment services for sports and musical events. The analytics captured in the portal show that 67% of people logged onto the WiFi via social media and the top three visitor locations were Buenos Aires, Santiago and Asunción, evidencing that people travel from far and wide for these types of events.
This is the first occasion that Efan, a fully Certified Purple Partner, has rolled out Purple’s solution, but there are a number of other events scheduled for early November. Having gained certified status with Purple, the business has access to preferential lead allocation as well as a number of additional benefits which will help them to secure new opportunities across South America.
Commenting on the decision to become a Certified Purple Partner, Ariel Salvetti, CEO of Efan, said: “We first learned about Purple at a Cisco event where we were recommended the solution. We recognised the value that this could bring to our portfolio and are looking forward to deploying this at other venues and events moving forward.”
Purple’s solution is highly beneficial for stadiums and events as it not only gives visitors access to great WiFi but also provides insights into visitor demographics, in-venue behaviour and frequency of visits. All of this enables brands to target WiFi users with relevant information such as event announcements, game results, promotions on merchandise, refreshments and tickets.
Commenting on the deployment of Purple at the Los Pumas vs All Blacks game, Gavin Wheeldon, CEO of Purple, said: “In today’s connected world fans love to share their experiences online, they want to Snapchat their friends, tweet updates about the game and post pictures on Facebook to promote the fact that they are there. I‘m delighted to hear that the WiFi was a big hit with fans and I look forward to seeing where else Efan deploy Purple over the coming months.”
