We present to The Duke of York

Pitch @ Palace

Purple WiFi has reached the final shortlist for Pitch @ Palace, an opportunity for innovative regional start-ups to showcase their talent. The event is backed by Prince Andrew, The Duke of York.

Pitch @ Palace will be held at St. James’ Palace, London in early April. Shortlisted businesses (like us!) will be given the opportunity to pitch their product in front of around 200 investors, high net worth individuals and mentors.

Commenting on Pitch @ Palace to The Telegraph, The Duke of York said:

“Pitch @ Palace is my response to the message that I have been receiving wherever I go: more is needed to support entrepreneurs at the early stage.”

If chosen, businesses will receive funding, advice and practical help. This is a fantastic opportunity for Purple WiFi to help showcase the calibre of technology businesses in the North West, raise our profile and tell our story. We’ve grown exponentially over the course of the last 18 months, providing public WiFi to over 1200 venues across 50 countries.

Of course, we wouldn’t be heading to London next month if it wasn’t for Richard Stangroom’s pitch at the presentation luncheon yesterday. The presentation was attended by HRH Prince Andrew and a select number of high profile companies. Although he was given only three minutes to present one slide about Purple WiFi and another three minutes to answer questions, our Rich evidently made a great impression!

Richard, VP Sales and one of Purple WiFi’s founding members commented:

“It was a fascinating process – great to be a part of it. Really interesting to see the other 5 pitches too, which were all excellent. I focused on giving a quick overview of our product using an infographic, telling the story of how Purple WiFi gives power back to our high streets, allowing them to control the WiFi branding, social login, and exactly how the analytics and marketing tools can be effectively used behind the scenes. I’m looking forward to the next stage of the process now.”

The result from the presentation luncheon was that six businesses were whittled down to three. Rather excitingly, Purple WiFi and the other two shortlisted businesses have now been invited to a Google bootcamp. The bootcamp is to be held at Google Campus, where shortlisted businesses will be given a full briefing for Pitch @ Palace, a training session on pitching and the opportunity to network with high profile CEO’s.
