Frequently asked

What is enterprise WiFi management for IT and network teams?

Enterprise WiFi management gives IT teams centralised control over user authentication, VLAN segmentation, and access policies across every site from a single cloud dashboard. Purple Cloud Controller connects to your existing access points via RADIUS and SNMP, eliminating on-premises hardware and unifying guest, staff, and IoT network management without a forklift upgrade.

Does Purple WiFi support 802.1X and WPA3-Enterprise authentication?

Yes. Purple supports WPA2-Enterprise and WPA3-Enterprise with 802.1X, including EAP-TLS (certificate-based for managed laptops), PEAP (username/password for legacy devices), and iPSK (unique per-device pre-shared keys for BYOD and IoT). Purple operates the cloud RADIUS server, so IT teams get enterprise authentication without standing up on-premises RADIUS infrastructure.

How does Purple integrate with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, or Google Workspace?

Purple integrates directly with Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace, and any SAML 2.0 or SCIM-compatible identity provider. When you add or remove a user in your IdP, their WiFi access is provisioned or revoked automatically. Group membership drives VLAN policy — marketing, engineering, and contractors each land on their own network segment without manual configuration.

Can Purple segment guest, staff, and IoT devices onto separate VLANs?

Yes. Purple lets IT teams configure distinct SSIDs with independent VLAN assignments and firewall rules. Guest devices land on a marketing-visible, internet-only segment; employee devices land on a corporate segment authenticated via your identity provider; IoT devices use a dedicated SSID with device-specific iPSK keys. All three run over the same physical infrastructure with no hardware changes required.

Does Purple work with our existing Meraki, Aruba, or Ruckus access points?

Yes. Purple is a hardware-agnostic cloud overlay. It connects via RADIUS to Cisco Meraki, Cisco Catalyst, Aruba, Ruckus, Juniper Mist, Ubiquiti UniFi, Cambium, Extreme Networks, Fortinet FortiAP, and other enterprise-grade access points. You keep your existing AP estate; Purple adds cloud-managed authentication, VLAN policy, and analytics on top.
